RSS or “really simple syndication” is a web-tool that allows users to stay current on news, websites, blogs, and a variety of electronic content.  RSS can be used for practical application for medical libraries.  For example, hospital staff can subscribe to specific journal Table of Content feeds.  Let’s say a physician wants to get the table of contents of The New England Journal of Medicine for every new issue.  They can subscribe to the RSS feed, or the librarian can sign them up and they can receive every new published issue’s Table of Contents electronically.  This allows the physician to scan the titles without having to come to the library.  It is a great time saver!
