What does the library offer?
The library supports the patient care, research, and information needs for the Banner Baywood Medical Center and Banner Heart Hospital medical staff and employees. The library provides knowledge-based information resources and services to assist in clinical and administrative decision-making. The library is located in the physician’s lounge at BBMC, accessible via badge swipe. Or, try the alternate entrance across from Medical Records, please call or email the librarian for the code.
The library makes a variety of traditional and electronic resources available to medical staff and employees and provides access to the databases of the Arizona Health Information Network (AZHIN). These databases can be accessed at any Banner facility. If you wish to access these resources from a location other than a Banner campus, please register for an Athens password.
The librarian can perform literature searches for you, and provide training on the use of online databases such as OVID, EBSCO, PubMed, etc. Call the librarian to schedule training. The BBMC/BHH library has over 200 reference texts and a current print subscription to 30 journals including: American Journal of Nursing, Chest, JAMA, New England Journal of Medicine, Surgery, and many more. Visit the library’s website to browse the catalog, or come visit in person.

How do I request an article?
Has this happened to you? You found an article on the PubMed or OVID database and you would like to get the full-text. You click on the link to access the article and you are instead re-directed to a publisher website informing you it is going to cost $50. Stop paying those absurd fees! The library can retrieve any article that you want (of course it has to be work related!) Most articles can be retrieved and delivered in 24 hours or less. Special requests may take longer. This service is free to all medical staff and employees. To use this service you must provide the librarian with the article citation which includes the title of the article, author(s), date of publication, name of journal, volume and issue number. To expedite your request, provide the Unique Identification or PubMed ID number. Send your request via email, fax, or feel free to call the library at: 480-321-4472. The librarian can email (pdf), fax, or print copies of the article according to your preference.
